Facing fierce competition from MSOs and Satellite operators, IPTV service providers are looking to differentiate their TV service portfolio and capitalize on their existing infrastructure. Consumer electronic vendors have recently joined the TV battle by launching low cost retail STBs that enable home users to consume content from online shops such as NetFlix, Blockbuster and Amazon.

As linear TV and VOD services are becoming a commodity, Internet TV now provides access to a large quantity of high-quality professional content from numerous content providers. This is the most opportune time for IPTV service providers to add Internet TV to their IPTV offering.

Using the cached and transcoded content, service providers can ensure Quality of Service (QoS) by utilizing their managed access network to deliver high-quality content to both DVRs/PVRs as well as streaming-only STB.

The WebTView Platform stores content metadata, which it dynamically discovers on the Internet on a continual basis. The discovered video and music are automatically analyzed and classified according to categories, languages, studios and video quality. The platform also analyzes end-user behavior in order to deliver a personalized TV catalog and help the service provider use personalized advertisement.
